Dr.
Chesselet:
Good
to hear from you.
It
makes sense that the Department is now devoted to Neurobiology given the
strength of the faculty in this area.
I am
thankful for the solid training I received at UCLA. My career path has been a
bit different than traditional medical school.
Presently, I am in a College of
Health where I am involved in undergraduate and graduate (MPH) public health
programs. My strong background in basic medical science from UCLA has allowed
me to be an integral part of the developing field of public health as recently
more emphasis is being put on biological basis of the practice of public health
in MPH curricula. Also since landing at
UNF, my research focus has changed from the neurobiology of the heart to
helping design better biosensor methodology for the real /near real time detection of water -and food- borne bacterial pathogens along with my
colleagues at the University of South Florida, Advanced Biosensors Laboratory,
Center for Biodefense. I have attached
my cv for your perusal.
I
remember Drs. Clemente, Gorski, Eldred, Scheibel and of course Dr. Sawyer
fondly and of course for their devotion to research and teaching. Please give
them my best regards. I will be happy
to contribute to a scholarship fund in the name of Dr. Sawyer.
