The applications for this
year's pre- and postdoctoral awards were again impressive, and the BRI/Semel
Student and Postdoctoral Awards Committee had to make some tough choices.
We want to thank the Awards Committee for their hard work in evaluating the
large number of applications and choosing among so many excellent candidates.
The predoctoral student receiving the UCLA SFN chapter nomination and an SFN Graduate Student Travel Award was Seth Bouvier, working with Stephen Engel. Seth is a student
in the Neuroscience Interdepartmental Ph.D. Program. The title of his
abstract is: Attentional

The postdoctoral trainee
receiving the UCLA SFN Chapter nomination and an
SFN Postdoctoral Scholar
Travel Award was Roy Mukamel, working in Marco Iacaboni’s laboratory. The title
of his abstract is: Mirror
Properties of Single Cells in Human Medial Frontal Cortex. In addition, Roy is the recipient of a
postdoctoral scholar award from Fine Science Tools.
The postdoctoral trainee
selected to present this coming year’s Fifth Annual Distinguished Postdoctoral
Lecture is **Gregoire Courtine, working with V. Reggie Edgerton.
